Methoxypropyl Acetate is a propylene oxide-based glycol ether acetate with a mild, fruity odour. It is known by several names including 1-methoxy-2-propyl acetate or PMA. It is a colourless liquid with a viscosity, volatility, and solvent power similar to that of ethylene glycol-based glycol ether acetates. Due to the presence of ether and ester groups, methoxypropyl acetate exhibits the solvent power characteristic of ethers and esters, making it an excellent solvent for dissolving numerous natural and synthetic resins, waxes, fats, and oils.

It also has low toxicity and the viscosity aids in regulating flow and coalescence, for example in coatings. In addition, it is used in inks as it helps dissolve the ink components and facilitates their transfer to the printing substrate.
