Solvents play a significant role in the food and drinks industry from use in production processes to an ingredient in some of our favourite foods and drink.

In breweries monopropylene glycol with its low toxicity and excellent heat transfer properties makes it an ideal solvent in cooling systems as well as an additive in food acting as preservative or emulsifier. Other solvents can be used in the decaffeination of tea or coffee or extract essential oils and flavours from nuts, seeds and other raw materials.

Examples of some of the solvents suitable for use in the food and drinks industry that Alcohols Ltd are able to supply include:

  • Ethanol
  • Ethyl Acetate
  • Monopropylene Glycol (MPG)
  • Mono isobutyl ketone (MIBK)
  • N butyl acetate
  • Glycerine

In addition, we produce a range of gin concentrates and high strength recipes using traditional recipes and further information on our gin production processes and other spirituous beverages can be found via our dedicated Langley distillery webpage: https://www.langleydistillery.co.uk/
